Regeneron Science Talent Search

The Regeneron Science Talent Search, which is open to high school seniors, will accept applications until November 15, 2017. Last year Regeneron became the new sponsor of this 77-year-old competition in science and math. STS culminates with more than $3 million awarded to the winners and their schools and a public exhibition of projects in March 2018 in Washington, DC. See the Regeneron STS web page for details.

Regeneron Science Talent Search Application Now Open

The Regeneron Science Talent Search 2027 application is open now until November 5th. In addition to the Regeneron ISEF and the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge programs, the Society for Science & the Public also owns and produces the Regeneron STS, the nation's oldest and most prestigious competition for high school seniors.

2017 Broadcom Masters finalists announced

Congratulations to our Broadcom MASTERS finalists! The Broadcom Foundation and Society for Science & the Public announced 30 finalists in this competition for middle school students, where finalists are selected from the top 10% of projects in affiliated science fairs across the U.S. Four of the 30 finalists are from the Synopsys Championship and they will present their projects in the final competition October 21-25 in Washington, D.C.:

Teacher workshops in October

The first workshop for teachers will be on Thursday, October 5th, at Santa Clara University in the Rotunda Room of Guadalupe Hall. The time is 4-6 PM. Renee Fallon (Monta Vista HS and Teach Biotech) and Katy Korsmeyer (SCVSEFA, Teach Biotech and SCU) will focus on science fair project selection, management and quality. There will be another workshop on Saturday morning, Oct. 28th, with the location and specific time TBA.

Championship Clinics in September and October

Learn about applying to and competing in the Synopsys Championship, the Santa Clara County science fair. Check the complete list of clinics and workshops in September and October. Join us on Wednesday, September 13, at 4:30 for a one-hour clinic in Room S-1 at Oak Grove High School. If you can, arrive at 3:15 to hear a talk by Carlos Stephens from the SJSU Entomology Museum.  Known as “The Bug Man,” Carlos will share rare insect specimens that range from the peculiar to the beautiful. His talk is the first in a guest speaker series at Oak Grove called “Science in our Society.” On Monday, September 18, Valley Christian High School will host a clinic at 6:30 p.m. Room details TBD.

Championship Winners List Posted!

Questions about SPECIAL AWARDS should be directed to the Special Awards Desk on our CONTACT page (link at top right of homepage). Major Fair Awards Posted Teachers of Championship winners, and student Winners and two guests per winner are invited to attend the 2015 Synopsys Championship Awards Ceremonies at the Campbell Heritage Theatre!  We have a two-guest-per-student limit because the theater cannot let us exceed its seating capacity, and we want everyone who wins an award to be able to attend. See the time and place of the grades 6–8 ceremony and the grades 9–12 ceremony.

  Available Judge Feedback Forms for students will be sent to the teacher as soon as our volunteers can sort through all the forms.  Please be patient.   A listing of CSSF (State Science Fair) Eligible Students will be posted here March 31st. Eligible Qualified and Alternate students received letters of notification at the Awards Ceremony March 29th.
