ISEF, the International Science & Engineering Fair, returned this year in a virtual format with the sponsorship of Regeneron and 1,833 finalists representing 49 states and 64 countries. Congratulations to all the participants from the Synopsys Championship and to the award winners announced on May 20 (special awards) and May 21 (scientific category awards).
Special congratulations to Franklin Wang for his ISEF top award, the Peggy Scripps Award for Science Communication, as the finalist who is best able to communicate their project to the lay public, explaining both the science and its potential impact on society. His project in Physics & Astronomy is The Fast and Inconspicuous: New Near Earth Asteroids Discovered Using Deep Learning and Synthetic Data Are Fainter and Move Faster than Those Previously Discovered.
