Broadcom MASTERS nominees are the top 10 percent of projects from grades 6-8 entered in U.S. science fairs that are affiliated with the Society for Science. The 2021 Top 300 semi-finalists were selected from 1841 competitors and announced on September 1. Each will receive a $125 award from DoD STEM.
Praneel Anil Shah from John F. Kennedy Middle School in Cupertino is a Broadcom MASTERS Top 30 finalist and the winner of the $2500 second place STEM Award in Technology for his project, Utilizing a Bioelectrochemical System with Phototrophic Bacteria to Generate Clean Water and Electricity. The Top 30 finalists receive a $500 award and compete virtually in October in a 4-day competition that includes individual and team challenges in various STEM disciplines.
