2020 Broadcom MASTERS Top 300 and Top 30

The Top 300 Broadcom MASTERS semi-finalists were selected on September 2nd. Thirty-four students from the Synopsys Championship were among the Top 300 and are listed below. A complete list of MASTERS with a state-by-state breakdown is on the web site for the Society for Science & the Public.

Anish Bhethanabotla from Joaquin Miller Middle School and Anika Pallapothu from The Harker School are among the Top 30 Broadcom MASTERS finalists. In October they competed virtually for over $100,000 in prizes.

In 2020, given the unprecedented circumstances due to COVID-19, the Broadcom MASTERS application was opened to middle school students who were registered for their Society-affiliated science fair. The result was the largest pool of applicants the competition has seen, with 3,476 students from 42 states and Puerto Rico, including 169 applicants from the Synopsys Championship.

In previous years, the Broadcom MASTERS nominees represented the top 10 percent of 6th, 7th and 8th grade projects entered in Society-affiliated fairs around the United States. The official nominees from the Synopsys Championship to Broadcom MASTERS are:
